Airport Fueling System Leak

Acknowledgement to Great American
An environmental study performed as part of a regional airport expansion project uncovered two areas of contamination. Leakage was discovered at an airport fueling system. In addition, containment areas for deĀicing fluid were found to be inadequate, thereby allowing contaminants to enter a lake adjacent to the airport property. Costly remediation of soils and groundwater was required. Also, the state environmental agency fined the airport for natural resource damages due to the impact on several pairs of bald eagles nesting at the lake.
