DNR rejects plan by Johnson Controls over cleanup of 'forever' chemicals on farm fields

A state Department of Natural Resources official on Monday rejected a proposal from Johnson Controls International that would have the DNR — and not the company — oversee the extent of industrial contamination on thousands of acres in northeastern Wisconsin.

The Glendale company had been ordered to provide the DNR a plan for determining the extent of so-called forever chemicals by last Friday on 16 fields spread with sludge containing industrial chemicals. The company had missed an earlier deadline.  Read more.
